The Challenge
Ajax approached ParaDemo for a spectacular stadium opening that would energize 55,000 fans before a crucial Eredivisie match. The brief was clear: deliver the match ball via parachute, landing precisely on the center circle while coordinating with pyrotechnics and the stadium DJ.
Our Approach
Working closely with the Ajax event team, we planned every detail: - Multiple reconnaissance visits to study wind patterns around the ArenA - Coordination with LVNL for airspace clearance - Synchronization with the stadium's entertainment program - Backup plans for various weather conditions
The Execution
At 14:30, Bob Draijer exited from a helicopter at 1,500 meters above Amsterdam. With the stadium roof open, he navigated the complex airflow patterns created by the arena structure. The landing was executed with centimeter precision, placing the match ball directly on the center spot as 55,000 fans erupted in cheers.
The Result
The demonstration became one of the most shared moments on Ajax social media that season, with the video reaching over 2 million views across platforms.
